Our candles are hand-poured by a candlemaker in France who has received the Artisan d'Art label, using a blend of 100% vegetable waxes. The cotton wicks ensure even burning and optimal diffusion of your candle's fragrance.

In Japanese, 'Butterfly' is called 'Cio Cio San,' the name given by American officer Pinkerton to the very young heroine of Puccini's opera, 'Madame Butterfly,' who is just 15 years old. In the fragrant bay of Nagasaki, scented with Verbena Oil, Cio Cio San waits for the return of the man she loves under a blossoming Sakura cherry tree.

How to enjoy your candle
  • Let the candle burn 2 hours, so to liquefy the entire top layer of wax. Otherwise, the wax will make a tunnel around to wick - what we call a memory ring.

  • To keep your candle fragrance smelling nice and fresh and looking clean, keep the wick trimmed to 5mm every time you burn it

  • Don't burn your candle for longer than 4 hours

  • Let it burn on a stable surface

This fragrance is inspired by Madama Butterfly, an Italian opera by Giacomo Puccini.

Cio-Cio-San means Butterfly in Japanese. This is how the American officer Pinkerton nicknamed the very young heroine of this opera who fell madly in love with him.

The iodized notes of the Nagasaki berry mingle with the scents of the Sakura cherry tree under which the very young Geisha Cio-Cio-San, perfumed with verbena oil, is desperately waiting for the return of his love.
